316L stainless steel plate (UNS S31603, EN 1.4404) is an ultra-low carbon austenitic stainless steel added with molybdenum element. Compared with 304 and ordinary 316 stainless steel, it features outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and intergranular corrosion, excellent weldability and high-temperature oxidation resistance.
The letter "L" represents low carbon content (Max 0.03%), which effectively prevents carbide precipitation during welding and eliminates weld joint corrosion risks. This material is the preferred metal plate for marine engineering, chemical processing, food equipment, pharmaceutical manufacturing and coastal corrosive environments.

Q1: What is the difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel plate?
A: The core difference is carbon content. 316 stainless steel max carbon is 0.08%, while 316L is ≤0.03%. 316L has better anti-intergranular corrosion performance after welding, no need for post-weld annealing treatment, which is more suitable for frequent welding projects and corrosive working conditions.
