Chemical Composition

 

ASTM/ASME A335 P5 Seamless Pipe,Grade P5 contains approximately 5% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum,

so it is also referred to as '5 Chrome' or 'Chrome-Moly' pipe.

ⓛ Chromium (Cr): 4.00% – 6.00% (Improved oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength)

② Molybdenum (Mo): 0.45% – 0.65% (Enhanced creep strength and corrosion resistance)

③ Carbon (C): Max. 0.15%

④ Manganese (Mn): 0.30% – 0.60%

⑤ Phosphorus (P) / Sulfur (S): Max. 0.025% each

⑥ Silicon (Si): Max. 0.50%

 

Mechanical Properties

 

ASTM/ASME A335 P5 Seamless Pipe,Grade P5 is designed to maintain consistent durability and performance even at high temperatures.

ⓛ Tensile Strength: Minimum 415 MPa (60 ksi)

② Yield Strength: Minimum 205 MPa (30 ksi)

③ Elongation: Minimum 30% (Longitudinal) / 20% (Transverse)

④ Hardness: Maximum 250 HBW / 265 HV

 

Heat Treatment & Manufacture

 

1) Manufacturing Method: Produced by hot-finished or cold-drawn methods.

2) Type of Heat Treatment: Supplied under Full Anneal, Isothermal Anneal, Normalize and

Temper(minimum tempering temperature 675°C).
