SS400 Carbon Steel Plate is defined by the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS G3101). The designation "SS" stands for "Steel Structure," and "400" indicates a minimum tensile strength of 400 MPa. As one of the most widely used mild steel grades globally, SS400 offers an optimal balance of strength, ductility, weldability, and cost-effectiveness. Chemical Composition

Equivalent to China's Q235B and ASTM A36 standards

SS400 is a low-carbon steel with strict limits on impurities to ensure good weldability and toughness.

‌Carbon (C):‌ ≤ 0.30% (for thickness ≤ 40mm)

‌Manganese (Mn):‌ Typically 0.50–0.80%

‌Phosphorus (P):‌ ≤ 0.050%

‌Sulfur (S):‌ ≤ 0.050%

‌Silicon (Si):‌ Not strictly specified but generally low to maintain ductility.
