Hot Rolled manufacturing
ASTM A106 Seamless Steel Pipe is produced through a rigorous manufacturing sequence that ensures structural integrity and dimensional accuracy. The process typically involves:
Pipe Blank Preparation: Selection of killed steel (deoxidized) melted via open-hearth, basic oxygen, or electric furnace methods.
Heating & Perforation: The billet is heated and pierced to form a hollow shell.
Hot Rolling: The shell is rolled to achieve the desired outer diameter and wall thickness.
Sizing & Reducing: Final dimensions are achieved through sizing mills.
Heat Treatment: While hot-finished pipes do not strictly require heat treatment, they may be stress-relieved at temperatures ≥650°C if specified. Cold-drawn pipes must undergo heat treatment after the final draw pass.
