Standards & Grades
Compliant with ASTM A500/A500M-23, the latest version, the tubing is available in four primary grades based on mechanical properties:
Grade A: Minimum yield strength of 46 ksi (315 MPa). Suitable for general light structural uses.
Grade B: Minimum yield strength of 46 ksi (315 MPa) for round tubes; often cited as 290 MPa in some contexts depending on size. The most commonly used grade for general structural applications due to its versatility.
Grade C: Minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa) for round tubes. Ideal for heavy-duty structural applications, bridges, and seismic-resistant designs.
Grade D: Minimum yield strength of 36 ksi (250 MPa). Requires heat treatment and is primarily used for round tubing.
Note: While ASTM A500 defines grades A-D, common commercial equivalents often align with material standards such as Q235B or S235JR for Grade B applications.
Manufacturing Process
